I joined Pen-y-bont lifesaving club around 12 years old after being encouraged by some friends at swimming. At first I treated lifesaving as a bit of relief from swimming, but little did I know that I would be competing within my first few years.

The club has provided me with many opportunities in both lifesaving and swimming. I have represented the club in both Welsh and British events and was lucky enough to represent Wales in the Commonwealth Festival of Lifesaving. As the sport had introduced me to open water swimming, I competed in several events where I managed to place in both Welsh and British championships. They are all experiences that I won’t be forgetting any time soon and I’m grateful to have been a part of them.

My coaches are amazing role models and if there’s one thing that they have taught me, it would be to just have fun! I always saw sport as competition and therefore never took a step back to enjoy the experience. Since, I have picked up many skills and made new friends that will stay with me for life. I appreciate all efforts from the club and look forward to what the future holds for us!
